This past Friday we had the extraordinary opportunity to film with two of Michigan's most celebrated Culinary competition chefs Master Chef Jeff Gabriel of Schoolcraft College and Chef Doug Ganhs of OCC both from their Culinary Arts programs Together they joined forces at Schoolcraft College to create two types on salon culinary competition platters. Chef Gabriel helped us understand what the early food show platters looked like in the 1970's , Chef Ganhs gave us a deep understanding of how the food show salon competition world has evolved. Both chefs talked in detail to the value of young cooks participating in culinary competitions. Chef Gabrial a two time member of the US Culinary Olympic team in 84 and 88 is by many chefs in the America considered a legend on the International culinary stage. Chef Ganhs's competition carrier spans years as part of the Michigan Culinary team as the captain. Together these to icons of our chef community are helping teach us about the history of Detroit chefs on the global culinary stage. A special thanks once again to Chef Chris Misiak and Schoolcraft for hosting this filming session. Detroit the City of Chefs II will be ready this fall , we will once again host a chef interactive premiere at the Novi Emagine Theatre complex.
